Winning Camp NaNoWriMo

Hello friends, I'm excited to announce that I won Camp NaNo reaching my goal of 20K. Actually, my final word count was 20,404. I'm happy, but I'm more excited by the fact that it's all coming together. The book is complete but I'm almost there. I'm heading into Act 3 and then I'll head into revisions aka 'Writing the Second Draft'. I knew I would never be able to reach the lofty goal of 50K that we all aspire to reach in November, but the great thing about Camp NaNo in April and July is you can create your own goal. Maybe my goal for July will be to complete my second draft.

April was Camp NaNoWriMo, but it also saw a hefty rise in deaths due to COVID-19. We even had an increase here in Maine (where I live), reaching over 1,000 infected with 59 deaths, so far. This is extremely low compared to other states, but it's still devastating. I work in healthcare and therefore, have to wear a face mask along with a face shield. It gets very hot and I feel like I'm slowly suffocating. I can't wait to rip off the mask after working an 8 hour shift. Thankfully, the residents where I work have been healthy and that's because corporate set rules early on for all residents and staff to adhere to. I hope and pray that this virus will disappear very very soon.

Stay safe my friends,
